Open Thurs-Sat over the Jubilee long weekend

31st May 2022

The awaited Jubilee long weekend is upon us! And the nursery will be open on the bank holidays Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June, as well as Saturday 4th June, so if you've got time off, it's a great opportunity to come and have a look at our trees and shrubs. (In between all those Jubilee parties.) Opening hours are as normal, 8.30am-4.30pm each day. There's nothing quite like seeing things in the flesh before you make a decision on something for your plot, is there? N.B. we do not open on Sundays.

If you're looking for inspiration, take a look at our blog on Platinum Jubilee themed trees, or see one of our articles for ideas on trees for wildlife, autumn colour, small gardens... If you're planting a tree in public to mark the Jubilee, there are a few things to consider - see our guide

Importantly, it's also the time of year we need to be vigilant about watering newly planted trees and shrubs. Don't let your wonderful new specimens go dry and crispy! It could be especially embarrassing if it's a public planting. We have lots of advice on planting best practice (e.g. importance of grass and weed control) and watering to help you get your trees nicely established. The rule of thumb is that you want to water new trees heavily two or three times a week, depending on the atmospheric and ground conditions (i.e. apply a bucket or two of water - more for larger trees; more often if it's dry and windy; stop if the ground is already saturated). Eventually your tree will have sent out enough new roots to supply its needs, but until then it needs a little 'parenting'!

Don't forget you can register your tree as part of the Queen's Green Canopy if you'd ilke to mark it as a Jubilee tree.

Have a woderful long weekend and we hope to see you down at the nursery! Find us on Winford Road, near Chew Magna, Bristol BS40 8HJ. Map and contact details here:
