Small tree with wide spreading branches and neat, attractive, frond-like leaves, glossy, leathery and unusual in appearance. These turn from green to red/purple in autumn. Fruits small, red, and densely packed in flattened heads are formed from white spring flowers. Rowans provide dappled shade and have an 'open-branched' appearance. Requires well-drained soil and full sun if possible, though will grow in partial shade.
