Carpinus - Hornbeam
The Hornbeams are versatile and easy to grow trees. They are tolerant of wet soils, have similar leaves to Beech and as such are also used for hedging.
The attractive seeds are held in Hop like clusters.
There is one native hornbeam, Carpinus betulus.
